Abi Elphinstone

Abi Elphinstone

Abi Elphinstone grew up in Scotland where weekends were spent building dens in the woods, jumping into icy rivers, hiding in tree houses and running wild across highland glens. School came as a bit of a surprise (lots of ‘being inside’ and ‘listening’) but English lessons were great. She loved stories—reading them, writing them, listening to them, discovering worlds behind wardrobes, teachers called Trunchbull and shape-shifting daemons!

Wychwood Literature Festival 2016: Abi Elphinstone.

From abseiling into jungle caves, chasing the northern lights across the Arctic and living with Kazakh Eagle Hunters in Mongolia, author Abi Elphinstone will be talking about the real-life adventures behind her books, The Dreamsnatcher and The Shadow Keeper. She'll be showing a variety of exciting and unusual objects linked to her characters—think catapults, ancient runes and fortune-telling balls—and she'll be showing children how easy it is to leap into stories of their own.

For 8+ years.
