Boney M

Headlining: Dave’s Stage (Main Stage), Friday 2015

Boney M

Boney M are one of the greatest party bands to emerge from the 1970s. The group was created by producer Frank Farian and was composed of four West Indian artists from London, Germany and Holland. Farian initially released the single Baby Do You Wanna Bump? using the name Boney M. At first he performed the vocals of the song himself, but when the song become a hit he decided to recruit a team of dancers and singers and Boney M as we know it was born.

The line-up of the group went through several changes as the band began touring discos. They gained a great live reputation and soon released their debut LP Take The Heat Off Me, which included the pop classic Daddy Cool. The band went on to have numerous top ten albums and singles including stand out tunes such as Rasputin, Rivers of Babylon, Mary's Boy Child - Oh My Lord, Hooray! Hooray! It's a Holi-Holiday, Sunny and Ma Baker. The band celebrate their 40th birthday this year and are releasing Diamonds, an anniversary album featuring brand new songs, remixes and unreleased material soon. Boney M are still a fantastic live spectacle and we can’t wait to party with them on Friday night at Wychwood.
