UB40-Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue

Much loved British reggae-pop band UB40 formed in Birmingham in 1978 with a mutual love of Jamaican reggae. The band has had more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart, and has also achieved considerable international success. They have been nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album four times, and in 1984 were nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Group.

Their first album was titled Signing Off as the band were signing off from unemployment benefits. It was recorded in a bedsit in Birmingham and was released on 29 August 1980. The Album spent 71 weeks in total in the charts and ever since they have been one of the world's best-selling music artists selling over 70 million records! Their hit singles include their debut Food for Thought and two U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number ones with Red Red Wine and Can't Help Falling in Love. Both of these also topped the UK Singles Chart, as did the band's version of I Got You Babe.

We are really excited to invite the newly reunited Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue to perform at Wychwood as our Saturday night headliner.
