Steve Antony
Appearing: 2016
Born in the UK and raised in New Mexico, Steve was the ‘British kid that liked to draw’. After taking redundancy in 2010 from a call-centre, Steve decided to pursue his life-long dream of becoming a writer-illustrator by applying for a place on the prestigious Children's Book Illustration MA course at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. He normally sticks to a limited pallet, in part because of his red-green colourblindness. Steve Antony is an award winning, bestselling children's book writer and illustrator based in Swindon.
His 2014 debut, The Queen’s Hat, won the Oscar's First Book Prize, and it was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize and was adapted into a concert by the London Symphony Orchestra. A sequel, The Queen’s Handbag was published last year. Steve has produced a number of books, including London Times Pick of the Week, Please Mr Panda and the much loved Betty Goes Bananas books, along with Green Lizards vs Red Rectangles: a story about war and peace. Steve Antony will be doing an event on Monster in the Hood.
