Urban Cohorts

Urban Cohorts are a Bristol based trio consisting of Holly Carter, Rory Francis and Kurt Swain. Formed at the beginning of 2015, the band’s sound is strongly rooted in the influence of 50’s revivalist bands such as The Bellfuries and JD McPherson, yet contains a distinct reference to the stripped back political folk reminiscent of Billy Bragg and Justin Townes Earle. Amongst this wash of influences, Urban Cohorts have created a unique mix of dark lyrical matter and catchy tunes that will provide entertainment for both your mind and your feet.

Urban Cohorts have been programmed by BIMM Bristol, who offer a range of BA (Hons) degree courses for students committed to a career in the music industry. Their professional real-world training includes studies in Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals, Songwriting, Music Production, Music Industry Management and Event Management. Part of the wider BIMM Group which launched in 2001, the company now has colleges in six cities where music matters most – London, Berlin, Dublin, Brighton, Manchester and Bristol.
