The Waterboys

Headlining: Dave’s Stage (Main Stage), Friday 2016

The Waterboys

Waterboys last played for us in 2011, closing our Saturday night with a stunning headline set. This year we welcome them back as our Friday headliner to kick off the weekend in style. The Waterboys pride themselves on belong to no movement, genre, school or fashion. They simply play Waterboys music, following the twists and trails of the music wherever it leads, wherever the adventure unfolds.

Best known for the 1991 top ten hit The Whole of the Moon, the band have a recorded 11 albums since forming back in 1983. In a 5 star review, The Telegraph praised their 2015 album Modern Blues: Amid a rocking chug of forward-tilting blues, peeling electric guitars and thick Hammond organ, Mike Scott creates vistas of jangling forests, rotating carousels, neon canyons, holy jazz bands, Dean Moriarty’s ghost and Venus in a V-neck sweater.
