Madi Stimpson is an exciting and original guitarist and singer-songwriter. He learned to play by busking and taking off round Europe with his guitar in the late 80s. He learnt from many great jazz and folk musicians on his travels before forming his own band The MadIntentions back in the UK in 2000. They played original tunes with a mix of Irish, folk, bluegrass and jazz. Since then he's also performed with the Madi Stimpson Trio.
As a solo performer, Madi continues to produce his own compositions, drawing on an astoundingly rich and varied range of styles, inspired by influences such as Frank Zappa and Tarraf de Hadouks, Charlie Parker, folk artists such as John Martyn and Pentangle and gypsy jazz guitar masters Django Reinhardt and Bireli Lagrene!
