Elvana
Sam’s Stage (Main Stage), Friday 2027
What if Elvis had fronted Nirvana? It sounds like a pub argument, and that's roughly how it started.
Back in 2014, four Newcastle musicians were asked to play a set of Nirvana covers at a friend's party. Realising they looked nothing like Kurt, Krist and Dave, they turned up dressed as the King instead. The joke got out of hand in the best possible way. Before long they were selling out Shepherd's Bush Empire, Rock City and Manchester Albert Hall, and playing Glastonbury and Download.
The band are big fans of both, and it shows. They tear through Nirvana's back catalogue, from Smells Like Teen Spirit to the deeper cuts, then slip in a bit of Suspicious Minds or Viva Las Vegas when you least expect it. Elvis spends half the set in the crowd, karate kicks included.
Loud, daft and properly well played. Thank you, thank you very much.
