Artists and Bands
Even more exciting artists added to our line-up…
On the Main Stage (Dave's Stage) on Friday we've got The Midnight Alliance, a fabulous multi-genre 10-piece group who'll be bringing a super-groovy fusion of latin, disco, jazz funk, ska and soul to entice you out onto the dancefloor.
Also on Main Stage, Saturday, we are very pleased to announce the uber-cool Ren Harvieu. Ren is an enigmatic songstress from Manchester, whose sound is reminiscent of orchestral pop of the '60s with a sumptuously dark and original hue.
Harvieu is the kind of Salford lass you can imagine a young Morrissey raving about. The Guardian
On Sunday, festival favourites The-Outcast-Band take to the mainstage. With echoes of New Model Army and The Levellers, this band bring raw energy and an incredible live show. They came to Wychwood in 2015 and we're delighted to welcome them back.
In our dance venue, we're adding to our array of DJs with Kwassa Kwassa, a duo who will be bringing their mighty collection of world music records, including all manner of African, Latin and tropical sounds, with the sole purpose of getting you dancing.
We're also delighted to celebrate the multiple talents of some of our authors this year. Namely, Gareth P Jones, who as well as running his new show Mystery Makers as part of our Story Box Kids literature festival, will also be performing with ukulele, loop pedal, trumpet, you name it… in our dance venue on Friday.
And on the Hobgoblin stage, writer Jo Cotterill will be performing with her band Faces Fall who play guitar-driven irresistible 80s-tinged pop, offten compared to the likes of Prefab Sprout and The Lightning Seeds.
THE UPSURGE TAKEOVER OF THE HOBGOBLIN STAGE
Always on the look-out for the latest talent, we're excited to announce that on Friday our Hobgoblin Stage will be taken over by artists from Upsurge.
UPSURGE is a talent development programme run by The Music Works that supports young creative emerging musicians, artists, producers and engineers aged between 18-30 in Gloucestershire.
The acts confirmed so far are Eyez & Sleepa, DJs with a dark and driven sound taking huge inspiration from Bristol's Dub/Dubstep scene. Working alongside them is the brilliant Griz-O, a versatile rapper influenced by grime with an experimental twist who'll reel you in with his stories.
We've also got Genuine Panama, a crowd-pleasing band blending guitar pop and old school funk and soul to hit an uncharted sweet spot somewhere between Hippo Campus and James Brown.
And adding to the Upsurge acts, we're pleased to welcome Gloucester based Rosita, who's released two studio recorded EPs and is gaining recognition as a pop/soul singer-songwriter. Plus we've got singer and rapper Luzzey, with influences from grime to reggae, motown to gospel. He's going to present his catchy new single Do This Again.
Further artists include JPDL + Yogi Beats who tap into a classic hip hop vibe with melodic hooks and witty wordplay. They've supported plenty of names like Chali 2na and Kraft Kuts, Abdominal and DJ Format, So Solid Crew and Rag ‘n’ Bone man.
