Swing Dance Lessons with Gloster Swing Dance

Twice the UK Lindy Hop Championships in 2004/05 and 2005/06, husband and wife team Gary and Sara Boon have been teaching swing dance for the past 15 years all around the UK and also Europe.

We will be bringing to Wychwood festival authentic American swing dancing! A partner dance based on the original Swing dance called Lindy Hop. As well as this fun, easy to learn  dance we will be teaching the biggest dance craze in history. Yes the fun and fabulous ‘Charleston’.

You may have seen these dances featured on the BBC TV programmes Strictly Dance Fever and Strictly Come Dancing.

We teach to all types of music and play tunes that are sure to get your foot tapping. There is no particular dress code but comfy casual clothes and low heeled shoes are best.

Edi Johnston at Wychwood Festival 2018.

Songwriting with Edi Johnston

Imagine if Morecambe & Wise, George Formby, The Beastie Boys and The Streets all met in a traditional English Cafe for a cuppa - What would they talk about? Aldi? Conkers? Gingers? Cups of Tea? Well that just about sums up The Edi Johnston Bit & his performances in a nutshell.

Edi (formerly off of The Austin Francis Connection), is going to bring his songs, jokes and joining in to Wychwood as he brings his one-man ukulele led musical comedy to deal with the important things in life… Netflix, Ninjas, Sepp Blatter, Brussel Sprouts, ALL of the important things.

As well as performing a bunch of silly songs, Edi will also be helping any song writers and rappers with a Lyric Writing workshop to try to inspire rhymes and lyrics from anyone who wants to take part. Using the lessons and rhythms of hip-hop as the main basis, Edi will share some of the things that have inspired him, and give potential wordsmiths the chance to put their bars together on site.
