The Undertones emerged from Derry in 1977, the result of five friends learning how to play guitar and drums in time with someone singing. Inspired by listening to mail order records, reading NME and John Peel’s wonderful show on BBC Radio One they began practicing in their bedrooms. Eventually the band recorded Teenage Kicks in 1978. The legendary DJ John Peel loved the record and liked it so much he played it twice in a row on his radio show!
2022 marks the band's 45th anniversary. The Undertones will mark the occasion with tours of the UK, USA and Europe.
We can’t wait for them to play for us on Friday night at Wychwood.
